A surgical procedure that reverses signs of ageing in the upper and lower eyelids — refreshing tired, droopy eyes for a brighter, more youthful gaze.
No feature makes the face look older than ageing of the eyes. Blepharoplasty — derived from 'bleph' (eyelid) and 'plasty' (moulded) — is the surgical treatment of issues related to the shape or function of the eyelids. Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is fairly straightforward and addresses excess hanging skin, the tired or angry look of droopy lids, loss of the natural lid crease, and even visual obstruction in severe cases. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is more technically demanding and treats under-eye bags from protruding fat, fine wrinkles and crepe-like skin, and dark circles caused by shadows from bulging fat. The result is a clean, crisp upper lid, a smooth lower lid that blends seamlessly with the cheek, and a refreshed, alert appearance.
