What Is It?
Rhinoplasty, also known as nose reshaping or a nose job, is a surgical procedure performed by a plastic surgeon to enhance the appearance or function of the nose. It involves reshaping or reconstructing the nose for cosmetic purposes — to refine its size, shape, projection and proportion — or for functional reasons such as correcting breathing difficulties or nasal deformities. Rhinoplasty can address the nasal tip, nostrils and bridge, make the nose larger or smaller, change its angle relative to the upper lip, refine the tip, or correct bumps, indentations and other defects.

Initial shape after cast removal at 7–10 days; final results over 12 months

The Procedure
01 Consultation & Planning

02 Surgical Reshaping
Incisions are usually made inside the nose to remain invisible. Bone and cartilage are reshaped, removed or augmented as needed, and tissue may be added from another part of the body or with a synthetic graft. The skin is then redraped over the new structure.
03 Splinting & Healing
An external splint supports the nose as it heals. Bandaging and the splint are removed in about a week. Cold compresses help reduce swelling, and the head must be kept elevated for the first few days.
