Laser removal is the most popular and effective approach, using high-intensity Q-switched laser beams that selectively target tattoo pigment. The laser energy breaks the ink particles into smaller fragments, which are then gradually cleared away by the body's immune system. Multiple sessions are usually required for complete removal, and the number depends on factors such as tattoo size, color, and depth. For smaller tattoos, surgical excision may be an option — the tattoo is carefully cut out and the wound closed with sutures, ideal when a single-session result is preferred.
